A cold reading is the type of
audition that doesn't give the actor time (or gives very
little time) to review the script or sides before they
have a chance to audition. They, essentially, have to read
the script cold, and perform the script while reading it.
For many actors, this is the hardest form of auditioning
because it requires the actor to produce a character
without any practice and say the lines without any
familiarity.
