   What Is An Acting Role?

    An acting role is a part in a movie, television show, commercial or theatrical production. An acting role can consist of the main character, such as a leading man or a leading woman. It could also be a supporting role, where the character has a significant interaction with the leading characters. Or it could be an extra, where the character has a non-speaking role in the background.

     


 

  Types of Acting Roles

Character Role- A character role is a role for an actor who supports the main characters and has a defined role in a production.
 
 
Leading Man- A leading man is a role for a male actor, in which the actor is the primary male character. 

Leading Woman- A leading woman is a role for a female actor, in which the actor is the primary male character.   

Supporting Role
- A supporting role is a role in a production, in which the actor or actress has a significant, though not "leading", part.

Extras- An extra is an actor who performs in the background of a scene. Extras usually don't have a speaking part.
